Pictures from a short trip to two of the most beautiful castles in Germany,
Castle Eltz and Reichsburg Cochem.
Castle Eltz is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River and
is still owned by the same family that built the castle in the 12th century, 33 generations ago.
Castle Eltz is one of the few castles in Germany wich have never been distroyed.
The Reichsburg in Cochem also dates back to the 12th century but unlike nearby Castle Eltz, the Reichsburg was destroyed by French troops in 1688.
It wasn ´t until nearly 200 years later ,before a businessman from Berlin bought the ruins for 300 Goldmark and reconstructed the Reichsburg to its former glory. The Castle is now owned by the town of Cochem.
