Gran Canaria? You?...
When we announced that we will go to Gran Canaria, people were surprised because Gran Canaria is well known for it´s mass tourism and all the unpleasant things that comes along with it. We are rather known for searching silence and solitude in the great outdoors.
So how does those two extremes fit together?
Well, they did. We went up into the mountains where you not only find spectacular scenery, silence and solitude but also you are away from the crowds.
Gran Canaria belongs to the Canary Islands and is located 150 Kilometers west of Africa and 1500 Kilometers from Europe mainland.
The island is of volcanic origin and was mainly formed between 9 and 14 million years ago.
The island is also called "Miniature Continent" due to the different climates and the variety of landscapes found.
We spent a week at Finca la Isa, right in the heart of the mountains .
Finca La Isa is a fantastic place to stay. Tucked away on a slope overlooking the valleys below it offers great accommodation, silence and the best sunset view you can wish for.
A big thanks to the owners, Claudia and Thomas, who made us feel at home. Thank you for showing us around and for the good advice you always had at hand.
We surely come back again one day.
