The pictures in this gallery were taken during a six day backpacking trip up Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m) on the Machame route.
Somebody who has not been on such altitude himself , can not imagine the effect of low oxygen on the human body.
Above 5000 meter , every step is hard work.
To keep the mental strenght up gets more and more difficult as the brain is deprived of oxygen ,
hence logical or rational thinking is very limited.
Never before did I come closer to my physical and psychical limits.
It was an experience of a lifetime.
